WES HOHENSTEIN

Wes Hohenstein gave our class a visit on Wednesday. He is the Chief Meteorologist for NBC 17 here in North Carolina. During his visit he talked to us about his college life and how he was hoping to become a doctor. After his Freshman year he decided to change his major. He kept expressing that he was very knowledgeable of math and science and how he didn't want to let that go to waste so he decided to use in pursing his new dream. Wes attended St. Louis University and during this time he also talked about the internship he did at NBC right down the street. Right out of college he told us about the jobs he had. One was in Louisiana, Houston, and his present job in North Carolina. Wes also talked about the DTV transition, and how the government had to push the date back to June 12th because not everyone was ready for the switch. All in all Wes visit was a very good one. The thought of being a meteorologist never crossed my mind before, and now I will give it some more thought. Good stuff!

CAPSTRAT

During class on Wednesday we had two visitors come and talk to the class. They were from Capstrat a communications agency in Raleigh, North Carolina. Tiffany Lawrence was on of the guest and she is the Talent Manger for the company. She told us what Capstrat does and who some of their clients are. She gave us some background information about herself and how she started out a biology major in school, but realized that she didn't really know what she wanted to do. The next guest was Louise Warenda. She is the Office Manager at Capstrat and she also gave us some information about the company. She told us about the internship that they have there and about how many interns they except each term. Over all it was a good listen and I am very interested in learning more about the company as well as doing an internship there.

SUPERBOWL 2009 !!!!

This past Sunday was the superbowl; Cardinals Vs. Steelers. The Steelers won the superbowl 27-23. During the first quater the steelers were up a field goal and the touchdowns came in the second quater. James Harrison sets a new superbowl record for running the ball back for 100 yards and making a touchdown. In the last 40 seconds Ben hit Santonio Holmes with the game winning pass that lead to the Steelers victory.

Jennifer Hudson made her comeback to the spotlight singing the National Anthem. Although it was very clear that she had pre recorded her vocals, meaning she was not singing live, it was good to see her out again after the murders that claimed her family lives.

ERICA MCRAE

During the class we had a fellow student come by to talk to us. Erica seems like she has a bright future ahead of her. She talked about how she transferred schools and how she is starting her own entertainment company. Her visit was very inspiring and helpful to me. After her visit I started to rethink me t shirt line that I was trying to start during the summer, and now I am going to go at it full force. The only thing I can do is try so that's what I am going to do!
